A Bit About My Experience at George Brown College

My experience at George Brown College was truly remarkable. It was right after COVID, and the world was just starting to recover. It was my first time living abroad, and I got to meet people from all over the world. What stood out the most was the education. My professors were deeply invested in teaching us industry standards, offering real-time insights that went well beyond the textbooks. Each class was filled with meaningful discussions that pushed us to think critically and form our own opinions. It wasn’t just about learning facts; it was about gaining a deeper understanding.

Soft Skills

Adaptability

Moving abroad and balancing school with work shows that you can adapt to new environments and juggle multiple responsibilities, which goes beyond Siemens' structured corporate environment.

Cultural Awareness

Living in a diverse city and meeting people from all over the world gives you a strong sense of cultural sensitivity and global awareness, which Siemens might not focus as much on.

Self-Management

Handling studies, a part-time job, and a new living situation demonstrates strong time management, prioritization, and independence—skills that are crucial in any fast-paced environment.

Hard Skills

Multitasking Under Pressure

Managing good grades and a job shows you’re able to excel in multiple areas simultaneously, a distinct skill developed in academic settings and personal experience, compared to Siemens’ often siloed, role-specific focus.

Real-Time Problem Solving

The combination of real-world insights from your professors and navigating life abroad equipped you to solve problems on the fly, a more spontaneous approach compared to Siemens’ structured methodologies.

Industry-Standard Learning

he hands-on, up-to-date teachings you received gave you an edge with real-time industry standards, something that aligns more with learning institutions than established corporations like Siemens that tend to follow defined protocols.
